Tofino
Finally! I arrived in Tofino. What gorgeous weather we had. Across the bay, low lying clouds draped over the mountains. Small boats darted around the harbour and float planes along the docks waited for their passengers. We walked around this beautiful little community, checked out some of the gifts shops and then we stopped in a coffee shop for a snack. I really loved the west coast with its rain forests, mountains, indigenous art and culture, and the long pristine sandy beaches. It was a perfect day.
Back in Ucluelet
That evening, as we arrived back in Ucluelet, the setting sun painted everything with its golden light. The various sculptures in downtown were glowing.
On our last night, we decided to treat ourselves to a special dinner. We found a small restaurant called the Float House which literally sits on the water in the harbour. The gang plank leading to it is pretty steep and I wondered if we went down there, would we manage to get back up? Especially with my husband's knee problems (he really needed surgery!). We chanced it and we did make it back up to our car after enjoying some great seafood. It's always worth taking a chance!
Back at the Airbnb, I took one last walk down to the beach and wished with all my heart that we could stay in this peaceful haven forever. I'm so grateful my husband suggested we complete my "Happy Adventure" by going to the west coast of Vancouver Island. What incredible memories I have of the summer of 2018 and my journey from St. John's, Newfoundland to Tofino, British Columbia.
What a great adventure Lorna, so glad you made it all the way to Tofino. Great pictures all along the way. Well done, have lived following along. We are off to Tofino next week, hope the weather cooperate, but it won’t really matter.
